Innovation the theme for 2015 Summit

John Bushell has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at the 2015 Tennis Industry Association UK Annual Summit in April.

Bushell, the managing director of SPORTS MARKETING SURVEYS INC. will be talking about ‘trends in playing’ following the success of his presentation at last year’s event.

“I’ll be looking at participation figures in tennis and how overall participation has moved,” explained Bushell. “It’s also about people’s attitude to the image of the sport. We’ll look at the correlation of participation figures with sales in tennis balls over the last few years.”

Dr Stuart Miller, the Technical Director at the International Tennis Federation will provide an insight into the role of the ITF’s technical department with a presentation titled, ‘Oh no you don’t – how the ITF protects the integrity of tennis’.

Prince Global will introduce another hot topic, trends in racket technology, while David Minton of The Leisure Database Company, a new member of TIA UK, will examine the range of disruptive sport technology and how this may impact tennis.

New technology has changed the way we listen to music, book a hotel room and save documents. Tracking apps and wearable technology has changed the way people exercise, and Minton will predict how such innovations will impact the industry in the future.

“The sessions planned will be of interest to all people involved in the tennis business and will illustrate the direction of travel being taken by companies and the ITF to make the sport more sustainable and exciting,” said TIA UK Business Development Manager Phil Sandilands.

“Through the 2015 Summit, we want to show that the TIA UK is in a strong position to act as a key information platform for innovation in tennis, thereby further enhancing its profile and positioning in the sport.”

With two more sessions to be confirmed, the 2015 TIA UK Summit will conclude with a panel discussion on the role of the tennis industry in supporting tennis growth.

“Almost half of seats are now booked for this unique tennis forum,” added Sandilands. “This is a great networking opportunity. This is an exciting time for the TIA UK and this unique event for the tennis industry will show the strengths and diversity of its membership in highlighting new ways to market and grow the game and help make it more relevant to those people who do not play at all.”

TIA UK Professional Business Service Partners BLM Law, Perkins Slade, Action Coach and Traveleads are co-sponsors of the event, which takes place on Thursday April 16 from 5pm.
