Date change for 2016 Tennis Summit

Chris Trickey, Tim Freeman and David Minton will join keynote speaker Paul Burditt at the 2016 TIAUK Summit on April 27 at The Queen’s Club.

Key stakeholders in the industry will gather for the Tennis Business Forum in West London on the revised date of Wednesday, April 27, 2016. Trickey and Freeman from the Sports and Play Construction Association (SAPCA) will talk about trends and advances in tennis court construction and design, while Minton from The Leisure Database Company will present an update on his popular ‘Disruptive Technology’ session.

Trickey, the chief executive of SAPCA since 1997, was previously the Technical and Research Manager at the LTA. Freeman is Vice-Chairman of the Tennis Court Division at SAPCA and a director at Trevor May Contractors. At the 2015 Summit Minton used examples of how technology-based solutions had helped increase participation in sports such as swimming and cycling and warned that tennis was in danger of being left behind.

Burditt, Head of Insight and Planning at the LTA, has already been confirmed as a guest speaker. “The TIAUK Summit is becoming the annual ‘must go to’ event for UK tennis,” said TIAUK Business Development Manager Phil Sandilands. “It is unique in focusing on the ‘business of tennis’, highlighting solutions and innovations making the game more sustainable and relevant to new and existing players.

“The Summit gives delegates the opportunity to hear and learn from industry leaders and innovators, not only in tennis, but also from other sports and industries, whose experience can add real value to the tennis offer. Our third event in April is shaping up to be the best yet.”

Meanwhile, the Tennis Industry Association launched its new-look website last week. While some sections of the site are still under construction, TIAUK.org (tiauk.org) will be the go-to site for all things related to ‘The Business of Tennis’, including a directory, industry news and market insight.
