Over 100 delegates, with over half representing major tennis clubs, attended the sixth annual Tennis Business Forum last month at The All England Club, sponsored by BLM and Tennis Threads.
Issues around tennis coach recruitment and profitability of gyms were two key aspects highlighted in the TIA UK’s Tennis Club Business Report 2019. These were addressed by Mike Lynch who examined the way coaches and clubs could work together to better provide a service to members and by David Minton, who looked at global fitness trends and highlighted the potential opportunities available for clubs to benefit from this 5 billion dollar sector.
There was also a very informative session presented by LTA Executives Chris Pollard, Abbie Lench and Tom Murray on progress on the LTA’s ‘Tennis Opened Up’ strategy, how clubs can assess the health of their operations and on the development of Padel Tennis and how the LTA intends to promote Padel to underpin its participation strategy.
