Thirty30 (T30) tennis is an abbreviated format of tennis where every point really counts and can be described as the tennis equivalent of cricket’s Twenty20 (T20). It provides:-
- Provides tennis players with an alternative to the traditional tennis scoring format.
- Produces shorter & more intense ‘bite-size’ sets.
- One set played in 20 minutes; three sets played in 60 minutes; five sets played in generally no longer than 90 minutes.
- Takes away the “dead time” during matches and makes more points matter quicker.
Thirty30 were featured in the April edition of Tennis Threads, the TIA UK’s Official Media Partner. In the article Mark Milne the Promotor from Arbroath, Scotland explains that Thirty30 uses the traditional scoring system – it just starts at 30-all! It is a seamless simple transition for players, audiences and officials.
Endorsed by Arbroath LTC where Club Coach Ruaridh MacLeod has used the format for his older juniors who said it was faster, more play and more exciting and perhaps most importantly, more fun.
